4 Ingredient Matcha Latte
My morning ritual has been transformed with my newest obsession – matcha lattes! Imagine it with me: that first sip of green liquid with the flowery white foam on top as I breathe the morning air. I center my thoughts on the day to unfold before me as the sky gets lighter. There’s nothing else like it.
If you’re looking for a comforting and healthy replacement (or switch up once in awhile) for coffee, I suggest you try one too. Part of the ritual includes making your very own from scratch and deciding if you’d like it warm or over ice. It’s easier than you think!
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED FOR MATCHA TEA?
For the best results, I recommend investing in a bamboo matcha whisk, sieve, thermometer, and a milk frother. Try this kit here.
INGREDIENTS
1 - 1.5 teaspoons of matcha powder. Be sure to use high grade ceremonial matcha powder from Japan, organic is best!
1 teaspoon of honey, or sweetener of your choice
1 tablespoon of hot water (no more than 76 degrees Celsius)
¾ cup of milk of choice – Try whole milk, unsweetened almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, or coconut milk… or try them all to find the flavor you prefer
METHOD FOR WARM MATCHA LATTE
Measure out your matcha powder and sugar into a small bowl, using a strainer to remove clumps. Pour the warm water on top of the matcha mixture.
Use your matcha whisk with a back-and-forth “W” motion until all the matcha is fully dissolved, then pour into your favorite mug.
Froth milk using a handheld device into a beaker and then pour the frothed milk over the matcha mixture in the mug.
Enjoy your new favorite drink!
